What are Cat-Eye Glasses?
Cat-eye glasses have an upswept rim where the frame meets the temple, resulting in an elongated look that resembles a cat’s eyes. This eyewear design is at once noticeable and subtle, allowing the wearer to distinguish themself without running the risk of a fashion faux pas. The style harkens back to the mid-20th century (think rock n’ roll, hot rods, and red-carpet glamour), but they’ve maintained their popularity.
Are Cat-Eye Glasses Right for Me?
Cat-eye glasses suit many personal styles and are equally appropriate for the office or casual settings. Some frames are conservative while others feature extra decorations at the rims. One of the reasons they’ve been popular for decades is this ability to appear professional or laid-back and fun depending on what the occasion calls for.
What’s the Best Face Shape for Cat-Eye Glasses?
Many face shapes look great in cat-eye glasses because there’s so much variety in frame design. A good rule-of-thumb is that opposites complement each other. Designs with sharp angles and straight lines look good on those with round or oval faces, while rounded glasses are ideal for people with square or rectangle faces. You can use Eyeconic’s Virtual Try-On to preview what you’ll look like in a variety of cat-eye frames.
